REVITALIZING ISLAND AVENUE

Investing in Sanford Housing & Community
At White Bark Property Management, we believe strong communities are built through long-term investment, responsible property management, and a commitment to improving housing without displacing the people who already call these neighborhoods home.
Over the past eight years, White Bark has steadily expanded and improved its presence along Island Avenue in Sanford, Maine. Today, our portfolio on Island Avenue includes 22 residential units across multiple properties, ranging from smaller apartments to larger multi-bedroom family units.
A Long-Term Commitment to Improvement
Many of the buildings along Island Avenue are older properties that require ongoing investment and hands-on management. Since acquiring these properties, White Bark has completed substantial improvements, including:
- Renovated apartment interiors
- Updated kitchens and bathrooms
- Flooring, lighting, and appliance upgrades
- Building system repairs and maintenance
- Exterior improvements and cleanup
- Common area and safety improvements
Our focus has never been on quick turnover or short-term cosmetic updates. Instead, we take a long-term approach centered on restoring and modernizing existing housing and neighborhood stability. As units become vacant, they are renovated and modernized before being reintroduced back on the market. This approach allows us to improve the quality of housing over time while avoiding unnecessary displacement of current residents.

Investing Beyond the Buildings
Our commitment extends beyond individual apartments. White Bark continues to work collaboratively with the City of Sanford and local stakeholders on broader neighborhood improvement efforts, including discussions surrounding infrastructure, city street improvements, and continued reinvestment in the area. We believe neighborhoods improve when property owners remain engaged, responsive, and invested for the long term.

Building for the Future
Sanford continues to face significant housing challenges, particularly for working families seeking clean, functional, reasonably priced housing options. White Bark remains committed to being part of the solution through responsible ownership, ongoing reinvestment, and thoughtful property management. Revitalization is a process, not an overnight transformation. We are proud of the progress already made on Island Avenue and remain committed to continuing that work in the years ahead.
